MEET OUR SHEEP, BO & LUKE!
Yup, that’s right, sheep! Back in May 2021, we were visiting family up in Alabama. Our nieces and nephew are always surprising us with new additions to their farm and this time they had sheep. Not only did they have two sheep that were about a month old, but during the same visit my brother-in-law brought home a baby (about a day old) needing to be bottle fed. If my memory serves me correctly, he was a triplet and the smallest of the bunch. I promise you; this little guy was so tiny he could sit in the palm of my hand.
For me, it was love at first bottle feed!
I mean, we had the land, had visions of a farm one day, and had long term goals of the kind of animals we wanted to have. We joked back and forth with each other about the possibility of owning sheep and what that might look like for us. Never in a million years would I have guessed this is how it would all start.
Towards the end of our trip (literally, the day before we left) we were given the opportunity to bring home two baby sheep who were only a few days old. We named them, Bo and Luke.
So, I’m sure you’re wondering how we got them home? Let’s just say there was a lot of “Bahh-ing” going on in the back seat and I’m pretty sure Riley laughed the entire 12-hour drive.
Bo and Luke were each taking 3 bottles a day and at the time, Bo, needed a lot of assistance with the bottle. We had to be hands on with him making sure he was getting enough formula with each feed. We stopped multiple times along the way to feed them, change their bedding, and let them stretch. We basically had 3 babies in the back seat. As chaotic as it might sound, it was a really fun trip home that we will always remember. One for the books.
Just like that, our next DIY project began. The sheep pen!
